This is such an exciting step of your journey 🙂
Have you seen our videos on catching unbroken waves, binary wave selection, and straight take offs?
This sounds like it is exactly where you are at 🙂

Not all waves break in the same place so you need to be doing look backs to see the different wave gradients. At this point missing waves is normal and can also be a good thing IF you are looking behind you and learning why you missed the waves.

If you want your theory to overtake your current level, in this case I don’t think that is a bad thing, then you could skip to intermediate and check out the series on dynamic wave prediction as well.
