In an ideal world you already know which way you’re going on a wave before you paddle for it

Looks Backs:
– Make sure the wave is still good and doing what you expected it to
Is it STILL catchable?
Is it STILL going the way I thought?
-Check for other surfers behind you with priority or infront of you who you may need to let know that you’re coming
– Eventually the looks backs help you plan what you’re going to do on the wave once you’re up (what turns and where and when)
