Surf Skate Recommendations?
Posted by Joseph Santa Maria on November 25, 2024 at 2:57 pmI’m looking online for surfskates and am wondering if anyone has recommendations? Carver brand seems to be highly recommended and tested. Thanks!

I have two carvers that i love
The grl swirl
The ghost net
The main things that will change the way the boards skate though are actually the wheels and the trucks
Harder wheels go faster and slide easier
Softer ones are more grippy and absorb shock from rough terrain
I have the cx and the c7 trucks.
The cx are a little snappier and I use them with the harder wheels
The c7 are way more carvey and I use them with the softer wheels

Thanks man I’ll check it out! Sounds like c7 with some bigger softer wheels is what I’d like.

We bought our son one for christmas off amazon that was only like 80 bucks. For how cheap it was, it’s suprisingly good. If you want a cheap one let me know and I’ll find the link

Sure send it on! There are some pretty good black friday deals on the Carver site right now too. Probably a good time to look.

Here it is

Works great for us. We are small people tho, so take that into consideration. But it’s got really soft wheels and works great for 85 bucks! You would think it’s more like 150 when you look at it

I got my carver Tyler 777 C7 from the “Sale” section of the carver web sight. Saved about 35 bucks off the retail price.
I’ve been surf skating for 10 months or so now. I am not a skateboarder by any means, no kick flips or Olies, my goal when I skate is always surf training. The trucks make a difference like Tommy said but the wheel base is something to consider too. I went with their longest deck available at 33 inches because I’m tall and have a wider stance. It’s not a “longboard” but it’s long enough to practice a bit of cross stepping. The extra length, soft wheels and loose C7 trucks make the turns more drawn out. I love my board, it’s my first skate board and I’ll ride it forever. But I definitely want another one now. Something shorter and snappier, maybe a 30 in on Cx trucks and harder wheels. As I progress on my surf skate training, I’m feeling the need for shorter and tighter maneuvers, I want snappy tail slides and a bit more aggressive approach to ramps.
I also emailed Carver before I decided on which model to get and they were happy to reply with their recommendations.
Just ask yourself what your goals are for this board, do you want a San O vibe or a Venice Dogtown vibe. Maybe you have skateboarding experience and already know a bunch of cool tricks. I think a tighter surf skate will feel like a hybrid between a tradition skateboard and a surf skate so you can carve and pump and do traditional trick.
Whatever you get, hit me up and we will go skating together, especially now that we are getting into the colder winter months. Yeeeww🤙🏼🛹🏄

Cool man! Yeah I was inspired by your video at that ramp. Looks like fun. I used to skate a lot, but not doing the street tricks anymore. Too much body to concrete contact for my old bones lol.
I wound up watching some youtube vids and getting a Yow “La Jolla” on sale. Good time of year for it! Let’s definitely hit a park sometime!
A few years ago I got a Loaded Bhangra 2 and that’s been great for stepping around a bit, but I’ve been wanting to try an actual surf skate truck setup.
